Apple’s iOS On The Rise In US

A study by US research and data consultancy Kantar has revealed that Apple’s iOS is on the rise in the US. Use of the mobile operating system grew a strong 5.2 percent during Q3 to 34.2 percent of the market, boosted by the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models. The news was not so good for Android, which slipped to
63.4 percent from 66.7 percent. Both iOS and Android made gains across Europe,
although the share of iOS fell in Germany from 17.5 percent to 15 percent and
in China from 18.7 percent to 14.2 percent.

In the US, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models were the best-selling smartphones in
September at 17.1 percent, with the lower-priced iPhone 6s second. Samsung
posted a year-on-year decline in the US from 36.9 percent to 33.8 percent in
Q3, due to the recall of the Note7, which is expected to make holiday season
sales challenging for Samsung.
