Australians spent around A$76 million on US Black Friday online deals, according to an estimate from online store payment systems provider eWay.
Indeed, eWay says it alone processed $19 million in Aussie Black Friday deals.
The company claims to power 22,600 online stores, and to process one in every four dollars spent online in Australia – hence its $76 million Black Friday estimate.
In other figures published by eWay, it says online spending in the lead-up to Black Friday this year increased by a “whopping” 166 percent on the same time-period last year.
And it adds that in November, it processed $450 million for Aussie online retailers, which it says represents a 20pc increase from the same period last year.
Australia’s Click Frenzy November 24-hour sale was reported to have experienced sales of close to $200 million this year, though the figure remains unconfirmed.
