Fingerprints Eliminated By Apple

Last week’s Worldwide Developers Conference put on by Apple saw some interesting developments among them “Fingerprint resistant coatings” for the iPhone which I am also told will be carried through to a larger touch screen coming for the MacBook family later this year.

Last week’s Worldwide Developers Conference put on by Apple saw some interesting developments among them “Fingerprint resistant coatings” for the iPhone which I am also told will be carried through to a larger touch screen coming for the MacBook family later this year.

The new technology was tipped exclusively by SmartHouse and ChannelNews.

On the 19th March we wrote “Sources in Taiwan told ChannelNews last month that Apple were looking at an OLED based notebook that will also incorporate new touch screen technology. Now sources in Korea are saying that this information is correct and that one area where LG has been testing OLED panels is in the area of touch sensitivity and “leave behind finger marks”.

The sources claim that in recent testing OLED screens used on a notebook attracted “body oils and sweat” when a finger was constantly used on a screen. LG believe that by adding a layer in the manufacturing process that they can eliminate “finger marking”.

Last week Apple confirmed the inclusion of new technology that stops oil from your fingers messing up an iPhones display. Cleaning the display will be a simple swipe’n’wipe action without the need for water or screen cleaning fluids.

We are still waiting for the release of an OLED screen similar to the screen found on the new Sony Walkman.

The new iPhone 3G S will also include hardware encryption of data which signals a move by Apple into the enterprise market.  This is a big plus for IT administrators concerned over the loss of sensitive data and emails.

The new 600MHz ARM processor will not only be faster it will deliver sharper images due to the inclusion of a new PowerVR SGX graphics processor from Imagination Technologies. This is a Company that Apple invested several million in last year.

The PowerVR SGX supports the Open GL|ES 2.0 mobile graphics standard, which brings fully programmable 3D-graphics support to iPhone Software 3.0.
