For Work And Play: Acer Aspire R 14 Playbook Now Available In Oz

Acer’s Aspire R 14 Playbook, featuring four modes – notebook, display, tent and pad – has landed in the Australian market.A 360-degree, dual-torque hinge design provides the R 14 its flexibility, enabling one-handed conversion into the four modes, designed for use for both work and play.

Notebook mode enables traditional typing, while display mode hides the keyboard at the back, bringing the screen closer, designed for viewing videos and photos. Tent mode can be set-up in confined spaces, such as in the kitchen or on a bookshelf, with pad mode seeing the R 14 rotate 360 degrees for use as a tablet.

Acer Touch Tools allows users to capture, collect, write and share screen data with touch, with a precision touchpad offering an “improved pinch to zoom, smoother scrolling and screen navigation experience”.

Smart audio technology provides for automatic reversing when the R 14 is converted, catering for every mode, while Zero Air Gap display “delivers vivid images without frustrating reflections”, with the R 14 also Skype-certified.

The R 14 is powered by an Intel Core i7 5500U processor and runs a Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system. It sports a 14″ HD 1366 x 768 resolution display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and comes with a 2 GB Nvidia GeForce 820M graphics card, two built-in speakers and an HD camera.

Weighing in at 2.2 kg and measuring 342 mm (W) x 245 mm (D) x 23.8 mm (H), it is equipped with a 1 TB hard drive and features battery life of up to six hours.

“Pick up the versatile Aspire R 14 and you’ll see the world in a new way,” Katherine Nguyen, Acer Australia and New Zealand head of marketing, commented.

“From checking a recipe at the kitchen bench, watching a movie, reading before bed, or sharing content and collaborating in small group discussions, its four modes are designed to flow with you both at home and at work.”
