Google has created a new real time weather application that will be available for both Android phone and tablet users.
A search for “weather” in the mobile browser will show the current weather, based on the user’s position. The technology means that users will have to have their GPS location capability switched on which is creating problems in Australia with parents concerned that location information is being embedded into images shot with a camera that are then being uplifted to social network sites.
Wit the new Google weathwer application Phone owners get the forecast and can drag a live slider to see how the forecast is expected to change over the course of the next 12 hours.
The code only needs a mobile browser with HTML5 support, although live location info needs either real GPS or a device like an iPod touch that can triangulate when on Wi-Fi. Search is only available in English and doesn’t yet have support for BlackBerry 6 or other platforms with some level of HTML5 support.
