Graffiti Gets A Tech Twist

With graffiti a hot topic at the moment, some folks in NYC have come up with an interesting new twist on the concept – LED graffiti!

And what better way to show the concept off than in a short clip mimicking the famous Bravia ad – including Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez in the soundtrack.

Calling themselves the Graffiti Research Lab, this group has invented the ‘throwie’, an LED connected to a battery and then taped to a magnet. They’re quite expensive at around $1.50 a pop, but as you can see here and here the effect is quite striking.

The idea is you grab a handful of throwies and toss them against a metallic structure, and the battery lets the LED run for about two weeks. All very illegal of course, and if you get caught, tell the police that computer games made you do it.
