iSpy: What’s Apple’s Boss Doing At CES?

There’s nothing like checking out the competition. So when Apple marketing boss Greg Joswiak was spotted at CES by PaidContent, checking out the Sony booth no less, he was said to be sporting a sheepish grin, insisting he was not stalking out Apple’s arch tech rivals but simply looking at companies “presentation:”

Joz on Apple stage in 2009.

“How other companies present their products at events such as CES, from things like booth layout and aesthetics to which products are highlighted within a company’s booth,” he claimed.

But it seems its not just the marketing guru that has made an appearance at Las Vegas – Apple CEO Tim Cook has also been spied at the event along with “half of the Apple team,” according to SmartHouse sources.

Tech snobs Apple have always snubbed the annual CES electronics show – the showcase for all things tech – and tradeshows since ’09  preferring to have the stage to themselves when launching a new product, and with the charismatic Steve Jobs at the helm this was a  doddle.

However, since his death, there has been left a massive hole in Cupertino’s ‘wow’ factor on product launch day.

So maybe Joswiak isn’t lying when he says he’s looking at rival’s marketing strategies bells and whistles at booth stands (although we’re certain it was no harm checking out the products being flogged also).

However, Joz, as he is fondly known as was said to be less than impressed with what he saw at Sony.

But the plot thickens further.

9to5 Mac reports on a somewhat eerie anonymous request it received asking what the Apple dedicated publication thought of the tech goodies on offer at CES.

Are Apple getting the fears – the lack of anything new since iPhone 4S, which after all was a reincarnation of iPhone 4 but with Siri added? Perhaps.
