Telstra is predicting record numbers of texts and calls made by Aussies to their mums this Mother’s Day.
“Last year, over 15 million text messages were sent on Telstra’s networks for Mother’s Day, and this year, Telstra is expecting more than 21 million text messages will be sent to mums across Australia,” said Telstra Segment Executive Director, Megan Keleher.
“Mother’s Day is one of our busiest days and the number of voice and video calls, text messages and picture messages continues to grow each year,” added Keleher.
The company also predicts voice calls to increase from 6.5million last year to 7.5million this Mother’s Day, and picture messaging and video calling to double.
A new service Telstra is offering this year is a virtual Mother’s Day card which can be accessed via the BigPond button and BigPond Mobile Portable on a Telstra Next G mobile phone.
“Virtual cards, poems, family photos and mobile videos can be sent to proud mothers and grandmothers as people find new ways to say ‘thanks mum’ even if they can’t be there in person,” Ms Keleher said.
