MyHome247 Kit Makes Home Security Easy

Myhome247 offers affordable around the clock security, allowing a user to monitor what is going on in your home when you are away. The starter kit offers basic protection, but accessories can be purchased depending on the needs of the customer.

For $899, you will get a starter kit which includes a gateway, a fixed IP camera, a wireless door/window contact sensor, as well as a 12-month remote access account with 50MB Storage for events, alerts and alarms. The package will be pre-configured, so all you have to do is to connect the gateway and the IP camera to your router, and stick the sensor and contact to the door or window of choice.

Since the company supplies you with a user ID and password, all you have to do is to log onto the dedicated Myhome247 secure website to adjust the settings and alerts. The layout is straightforward and gives the user complete control of the system. The console allows you to view live video feed from the IP camera, control all connected devices, view event archives, and edit account settings. The main user can also manually change the name of any synchronised device, arm or disarm all/any device, and even add guest users.

In addition to PC access, users can also use their mobile phone to log on and view the camera or adjust settings.

Once armed, the camera can be set to take a snapshot or video when it detects motion. It can also be set to send you an e-mail. During our test, we received an e-mail with the subject title: ‘Device Alert!’ that contains a body copy that says: ‘macro ‘XanbooCam 5D E6 motion’ when motion detected.’ It also included a screenshot of the person who triggered the motion sensor.

Both door contact and network camera can be set up to send an e-mail and/or SMS alerts whenever an incident occurs. Users can also add additional security rules to any device such as alerting users when the device is online or offline, when contacts are opened or closed, or when the battery is low.

What is good about this system is that you can purchase additional devices from the company to enhance or expand on what you have. You can get a wireless temperature sensor ($99), a water sensor ($79), or even a keypad reader kit ($159) and synchronise it to your system by pressing the Discovery button on the new device. The system can handle up to 32 different devices (and up to 10 cameras).

Overall, if you are looking for a simple way to secure your home, then the MyHome 247 Starter Kit is well-worth checking out. If the kit is too basic, you can opt to move up and purchase a Myhome 247 Basics system which includes the gateway, the fixed IP camera, a motion sensor, two door/window sensors, a home and away keypad (for arming and disarming the system), two HomePlug adaptors, ten text messaging alerts, as well as a lifetime remote access for $1725.

The remote access costs $11.95/month or $129/year for a 50MB account or $14.95/month or $159/year for the 250MB plan.
