Picture Hung TV and Wall Mounted Blu Ray Announced By Samsung

Samsung has announced a neat new range of HD LCD TVs inclucing one that is wafer thin and hangs on a wall like a picture using a three-prong mounting system. They have also announced a stylish wall-mounted Blu ray player.

Among the new range is the  6000, 7000 and 8000 series, that deliver varying degrees of functionality, including 240Hz refresh rates and access to Yahoo’s Widget Channel, and will be available from 40-55-inch screen sizes. In Australia only 200Hz models will be available.

The 6000 series is a basic entry level model that has a HD TV tuner despite only being 1-inch thick. It includes four HDMI slots, a 120Hz refresh rate and includes access to Samsung’s InfoLink RSS service, which can instantly display updated news, sports, weather and stocks information with a touch of the remote.

The 7000 series  is one step up and builds on the functionality of the 6000, but adds in interactivity with the Yahoo Widget Channel. It also looks a bit swish as well, with Samsung’s ‘Touch of Color’ bezel. (Which basically means it has got a bit of red in the normal black finish.

The 8000 series has all the same features as the other two lines, but with a much more polished, prism-like and chrome frame, as well as the refresh rate du jour 240Hz, which Samsung says is 4x faster than standard LCD TVs.

Samsung has also unveiled what it claims is the world’s thinnest Blu-ray Disc player: the BD-P4600,wich is 38mm top to bottom.

It also incorporates 1GB of storage for downloaded BD Live content, and Samsung said it’ll bundle a USB 802.11n Wi-Fi dongle so the unit’s ready for wireless homes. It also has  a slot-load mechanism instead of a tray – a system, Samsung said, that’ll spit a disc back out at you in just one second.
Samsung also launched today the HT-BD8200, a virtual 5.1 soundbar that features an integrated BD player and a wireless sub-woofer. It too can be attached to a wall, and features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to pull in content from other sources too.
