The deals site DealsDirect, received five star ratings across all criteron including price, brands, site navigation and delivery times.

The survey quizzed 2,500 Australian consumers on satisfaction of online department stores, who also ranked Kmart, Big W, Target, oo.com.au and Myer among the top 6 web retailers in Australia.

And although two out of the six top department stores are online operations only, it is encouraging for retailers here that well known High Street names were among those highly ranked.

854 out of those surveyed had purchased an item from an online department store in the past 12 months and 40% said they shopped online more than in-store.

“DealsDirect was the standout five star recipient for overall customer satisfaction, ahead of four star recipients Kmart, Target and Big W. Both oo.com.au and Myer received three stars each for this criterion,” according to Canstar.

The bargain site sells everything from cotton bedsheets to electronics, smartphones and liquor, and sell well known and cheaper brands.

“Being competitive on price is important in the online world, especially when there’s so many websites around, Canstar also noted. Kmart, Big W, Target and oo.com.au and Myer all rated well for value for money, delivery and product range.

And although DealsDirect got top marks on all categories from consumers, the bargain site came head to head with Kmart, who also received top billing for their range of brands.

The survey was undertaken in conjunction with market researchers, Colmar Brunton.
