Samsung 65-inch 3D LED TV Revealed

Following the launch of its Series 7 3D LED TV a couple of months ago, Samsung announced that it is expanding its range with the launch of its Series 8 65-inch LED TV.

According to Samsung, the range offers a 65 inch panel that features a chrome finish. Also available in 46 and 55 inch screen sizes, Series 8 features all of the leading technologies found in the current 3D LED TV Series 7 range, including Internet@TV services, PVR functionality and Skype. In addition, it features Pinpoint Dimming technology delivering an even more detailed and vibrant picture.

Samsung Australia’s Head of Marketing, Consumer Electronics, Mark Leathan said, “The response to our first-to-market 3D TV range, the Series 7, has been exceptional, and the arrival of Series 8 now offers consumers looking for a 3D TV not only a broader range of screen sizes, but also a new level in premium design. The LED TV Series 8 range is a prime example of Samsung’s commitment to offering tomorrow’s designs and technologies today. The eye catching look of the stylish chrome finish, combined with the best in class picture quality our Pinpoint Dimming technology delivers, makes this new range really stand out in the competitive TV market.”

The 3D LED TV Series 8 includes Samsung’s Pinpoint Dimming technology that merges the advantages of LED edge-lighting with the control of local dimming technology in directly back-lit LED televisions.

“Pinpoint Dimming uses an array of special LEDs that create diamond-shaped areas of light to illuminate objects on the panel. Areas can vary in size and shape according to the light required, and an algorithm calculates where the light should be targeted to intensify contrast. The result: higher contrast ratios, deeper blacks, vibrant colours and enhanced energy efficiency,” said the company.

Samsung 3D capable TVs have the ability to convert existing 2D content into 3D, allowing you to watch traditional 2D TV broadcasts, console games and standard DVD or Blu-ray movies in 3D-like depth.

Australians will also be able to check out a number of ‘apps’ on Samsung TVs which create a truly interactive environment. Sit back and relax while the Samsung TV connects to the Internet and allows you to interact with friends and family via Skype, share your thoughts on Twitter and Facebook or watch hundreds of thousands of videos on YouTube.
