Samsung has teamed up with Microsoft to create a Windows Mobile 5.0 based smartphone which features a qwerty keyboard.
Designed to offer a stylish alternative to other smartphones on the market, Samsung has presented the phone in a black and chrome casing which measures up at 11.5mm thick.
“The Samsung i320N breaks new ground as the first Windows Mobile Smartphone available in Australia with a full qwerty keyboard,” said Samsung Mobile’s Tarquin Swift.
The user interface can be fully personalised, Samsung says, and the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform means all the familiar Outlook emails and Calendar, when synchronised with Exchange Server 2003. Other Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint are all available too.
In terms of multimedia, the Samsung i320N is powered by Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, and features integrated dual stereo speakers. It is also Bluetooth compliant and sports a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash.
Samsung says a unique feature of the device is the USB mode which allows the phone to act as an ActiveSync client or a USB Mass Storage device for any file types and multimedia content. Samsung i320N’s internal 120MB memory is also expandable by the MicroSD slot.
