Samsung has confirmed Australian availability for the Galaxy A series, first announced back at CES.
According to Richard Fink, Vice President of Samsung Australia’s IT and Mobile Division, “the latest Galaxy A Series has been developed to deliver the key features that Australians expect from a premium smartphone, but packaged in a device that is accessible to almost everyone.”
He says that it’s perfect for those looking to strike a balance between stylish aesthetics, good price-point and solidly appealing features.
“The Galaxy A Series draws on Samsung’s design heritage to create a seamless device,” he says.
In a technical sense, the big draw here is the trickle down of the features you’d usually find in Samsung more premium offering. It’s got the same IP67 water and dust resistance you’ll find in the Galaxy S7 and a surprisingly beefy pair of 16-megapixel cameras on the front and back of the device.
Under the hood, the A7 and A5 each pack a 1.9GHz Octa Core with 3GBs of RAM. It’s also got an NFC chip, which means it’ll offer support for Samsung Pay.
The Galaxy A7 and A5 both charge via USB-C but feature the classic headphone jack that’s quickly becoming absent from the efforts of other premiere smartphone brands.
Fink says “The Galaxy A Series range is perfect for Australians who are looking for a stylish smartphone to keep them connected, while still featuring Samsung’s outstanding camera and screen technology, giving Australians the things they love and need in a smartphone.”
The Galaxy A Series will be available in two colours (Black Sky and Gold Sand) through both carriers and retail outlets.
The Galaxy A5 comes in at $649 and the Galaxy A7 arrives at $799.
They’ll be available via Samsung online store from February 16th and roll out to retail shortly afterwards.
