Launched only a few months ago in Australia, Sony has pulled the plug on their NEX-3 interchangeable lens camera, according to a Sony web site which lists it as “”no longer in production”.No explanation has been given by Sony Australia as to why their parent company has killed off the camera that the Japanese company was using to compete up against more traditional digital SLR Cameras.

Launched globally in June 2010 alongside the NEX-5 brother, the NEX-3 had a 14.2 megapixel sensor, which was proving popular with consumers.
Sony who are struggling to find success in most markets that they compete in, were using their new E mount digital camera system to differentiate themselves from brands like Panasonic who have stripped market share away from Sony with their Lumix brand.
One explanation could be that consumers are bypassing the NX3 for the NX5 which can shoot 1080p video and has a magnesium alloy body.
