‘Tis The Season To Be Virtual

SYDNEY – Woolworths has launched a series of “virtual walls” at high-traffic locations around Australia claimed to let customers buy Christmas items by aiming their smartphones at individual products.

The billboards depict a family having Christmas dinner.

Users who don’t puke at the rampant commercialism can buy any of the items on display by pointing their phones at them.

The move follows a trial conducted by Woollies earlier this year in which it created a virtual supermarket billboard in Sydney’s Town Hall Station and Melbourne’s Flinders Street Station.
