Monitors with a 16:9 aspect ratio dominated the market with an 83.8 per cent share, followed by 16:10 monitors, while shipments of touchscreen monitors continued to see double-digit growth across all eight regional markets.

Western Europe was the largest market for touchscreen units shipped, followed by the US and the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan).

Samsung, meanwhile, remained the number two vendor, capturing 12.1 per cent of the market, recording a decline in shipments of 4.9 per cent year-on-year, and maintained its number one position in terms of total revenue.

HP posted shipments growth of 4 per cent year-on-year, taking out an 11.8 per cent share of the market in third place, with the IDC noting HP’s growth was boosted by solid year-on-year shipments growth in six out of eight regional markets.

Lenovo and LG rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with Lenovo seeing its shipments decline 1.5 per cent year-on-year, capturing a 9.6 per cent market share, while LG commanded a 9.4 per cent market share, seeing its shipments decline 9.6 per cent.

“IDC expects shipments in the US to have another quarter of single-digit growth in the fourth quarter of 2014.”
