Listen Up: 1M+ Tune Into Digital Radio

Aussies are listening to digital radio in droves, a new survey shows.

Digital radio sales and listening showed significant rise with close to 100,000 (94,655) DAB+ digital radio devices sold in July-September period, Survey 7 research shows.

This brings the total number of DAB+ devices sold in total to over 1 million (100,966) with 1.3 million people tuining into a DAB+ device each week.

The 94,000+ sales of DAB+ in the last quarter is the highest this year up –  from 74,991 in Q2.

The largest number of digital radios sold in one quarter was recorded in the final quarter of 2011 with over 140K radios, meaning the Christmas period this year could enjoy a similar sales boost:

“Digital radio sales continue to climb despite a tough retail climate”  Commercial Radio Australia CEO, Joan Warner said.
